The Sports Rehabilitator’s role is to use their skills to assess the degree and type of injury and establish appropriate treatments. The recovery of day to day functions and sports performance is facilitated through the use of manual therapy (mobilisations, manipulations, massage), electrotherapy (ultrasound, TENS, interferential) and exercise therapy (individually tailored to suit needs). The Sports Rehabilitator has the duty of care to identify more complicated conditions or injuries and refer these back to another medical professional as appropriate.

The Sports Rehabilitator can assist athletes in minimising the risk of injury and illness and can design/implement physical conditioning programmes and appropriate exercise therapy programmes to minimise the adverse effects. In addition, the Sports Rehabilitator can give nutritional advice for before, during and after sports participation.
